Management of a patient with a minor burn injury

Each year, 5000 people with burn injuries present to emergency departments across Victoria (1). Most of these injuries are minor and can be managed in the community, healing without complication. This section of the guidelines deals with the management of these types of injuries.

A superficial dermal burn at 24 hours post injury. Painful with considerable exudate and should heal without complication in 10 to 12 days
