Escharotomy

Escharotomy involves full thickness incision of the circumferential burn down to the subcutaneous fat, to release constricting unyielding eschar.

Escharotomy involves full thickness incision of the circumferential burn down to the subcutaneous fat, to release constricting unyielding eschar. This will allow reperfusion of the limb distally or chest or abdominal expansion 

Consider the need for escharotomy before transfer. Escharotomy is a high-risk procedure, consult with the appropriate Burn Service & Adult Retrieval Victoria before proceeding.
